| IJO
Orisa Yoruba Church, Inc. is an incorporated church organization. It
is comprised of selected members who are representatives of the
Orisa Egbes (societies). Ijo Orisa has an elected board of directors
and board officers who manage the affairs of the corporation. The mission and the purposes of the IJO Orisa Yoruba Church are to preserve the Orisa-based spiritual and religious traditions, customs and legacy of our forefathers. This includes the spiritual and religious traditions of the indigenous Yoruba people of Nigeria, Dahomey, Benin, the Congo and those of the African Diaspora in the Caribbean area Cuba, Trinidad, Haiti, Brazil, and the United States. The membership of IJO Orisa Yoruba Church includes all active members of the various Orisa Egbes, and the ordained members of Orisa houses. The aborisa members of the numerous houses (those who have undergone ritual initiations of receiving Elekes, warriors, and Adimu Orisas) can apply for membership with the written permission of their Elders. Other ordained individuals of the Orisa community--those not attached to Orisa houses who wish to apply for membership, will be considered. Our Church organization consists of various committees to facilitate the education, progress, development and empowerment of a cohesive spiritual/religious community. The IJO Orisa Yoruba Church, Inc. is now a functioning reality in our community and IS HERE TO SERVE YOU! |
